Background:

Moroccan Site Rendering

The National Institute of Oncology (INO) is the major hospital in Morocco (population 26 million) for patients with cancer. Medical oncology and breast cancer research are newer parts of the activities of the INO. At present, all patients treated with chemotherapy at this institution are seen and managed in a single large room that is always overcrowded and certainly less safe for the patients than is appropriate.

IBCRF currently has three breast cancer projects at the INO and we are working to develop an additional major program in inflammatory breast cancer that is particularly important for all women.  IBCRF has made a partnership agreement with the Lalla Salma Association against cancer to build together a large outpatient facility in order to:

  • Conduct new and existing breast cancer study projects well and expediently
  • Gather and store data and tissue specimens from the studies
  • Manage the study patients safely
  • Moroccan Site Rendering

The IBCRF and Association Lalla Salma de Lutte Contre le Cancer partnership will also provide funds to launch a new inflammatory breast cancer program.  The Princess Lalla Salma, the wife of King Mohammed VI, a world health organization ambassador for cancer, founded the Association.
